Nominees of 2011 Tony Awards

There were many plays and musicals nominated in this years Tony Awards.

Anything Goes, a humorous musical about a group of people finding love out at sea, was nominated for nine awards including Best Performance by an Actor in a Features Role in a Musical and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

Arcadia, a play which starts in the year 1809 about a student surpassing her supposed intelligence and the people making sense of it two hundred years later, was nominated for both Best Revival of a Play and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.

Baby It's You!, a musical a woman who changes the recording world, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, which shows the lives of two American Marines and an Iraqi gardener, was nominated for three awards including Best Sound Design of a Play.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson was nominated for Best Book of a Musical and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

Born Yesterday and Brief Encounter were both nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play and Best Costume Design of a Play.

The House of Blue Leaves was also nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play.

There were many, many more musicals and plays nominated at this years awards, including Catch Me If You Can, Driving Miss Daisy, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Normal Heart, and Sister Act, but none of them surpassing The Book of Mormon which was nominated for a total of fourteen Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Orchestrations among many others.
